2. Where are you located?
Gatlin Baptist Church currently meets at 801 West Gatlin, Marlow Oklahoma 73055. We are essentially located throughout the Duncan/Marlow area as a “sent” community of Christ followers, but if you would like a map of where exactly we meet on Sundays and Wednesdays, go here.
3. What should we expect when visiting for the first time?
You should expect to be welcomed and loved by people who are learning to live by grace. Down to earth, serious-minded, and joyful believers who want to make a difference in this world for Jesus’ sake are the kind of people you will likely meet. More detailed information is provided on our what to expect page.
4. How does someone become a member of Gatlin?
We have provided the steps of the membership process on our website for anyone interested in joining with Gatlin Baptist Church. Resources such as our church’s confession and covenant are important documents to consider as well. If you have questions or would like to talk to an elder, please email email@example.com.
5. Is your style of singing traditional or contemporary?
The singing at Gatlin includes both great hymns of old and the best of the contemporary worship songs of today. So not only do we sing the compositions of writers like Isaac Watts, Charles Wesley and Augustus Toplady, but also those of Stuart Townend, Keith Getty, and Bob Kauflin.
5. Is Gatlin a homeschooling church?
Many of our families do homeschool, but we also have many whose children go to “regular” schools–both public and private. We encourage parents to recognize and embrace their God-given responsibility to bring their children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). How that responsibility is carried out may vary from family to family and across the different stages of a family’s life.
6. Do you have children’s church?
No. We provide child care during all of our services for children under 4, but we warmly welcome children in our meetings. Most children are able to learn how to participate appropriately in worship at a much earlier age than we typically think. Many parents in our church who were unsure about this at one time have since discovered that not only is it possible to teach small children to act appropriately, there are many rewards that go with doing so. Any of these parents would be glad to tell you their stories and share lessons they have learned.
7. Does your church support missionaries?
Absolutely! We support various Gospel workers around the world and are delighted to maintain personal contact with many of them. As a part of the Southern Baptist Convention of churches we also have a part in supporting over 5000 workers throughout the world.
